42 | TRANSPORT NZ Trucks - MC Transport Repairs T T Hugh de Lacy Truck workshop has it all covered NZ Trucks has the technical expertise and experience to service and repair all makes and models of trucks, trailers, and off-site plant like the generators and industrial engines. It’s already got a name as one of the bestequipped and busiest heavy transport workshops in New Zealand, and since it moved into its new premises in 2017, New Zealand Trucks of Christchurch is also one of the largest. NZ Trucks relocated from its former and much smaller Blenheim Road site, to Hornby South, south of Christchurch, where it now occupies a large, purpose-built site at 6 Brydone Road. The company can trace its origins all the way back to when International Harvester was a major figure in agriculture, but in 2019 the business was bought from its former owners by well-known transport industry identities Ross Graham, John Mason, and Sheldon Close, who saw the opportunity to step up the company’s levels of service and capability. Today, NZ Trucks employs nearly 60 staff and prides itself on its reputation for customer focus, great service, 24/7/365 availability, and reliability. The company has long held the philosophy of being a one-stop-shop for its customers, so the business is geared to supply the complete spectrum of services. Making this happen is a team of skilled heavy diesel technicians, apprentices, auto-electricians, dedicated lube service technicians and transport engineers on the staff, all supported by a small team of equally dedicated administrators. Technicians and auto electricians are available at any time round the clock through a single phone call, and there’s also a sister company on site operating a dedicated COF-B and WOF testing lane. Co-operation and communication between these two businesses means that customers are provided with cost and time-effective repairs and COFs without their vehicles having to leave the site. This broad capability and expertise deliver the service on which the company has built its name in the heavy transport industry. NZ Trucks’ customer base is notably wide, and includes national fleet operators, contractors, owner-drivers, and recreational vehicle (RV) owners. The company has the technical expertise and experience to service and repair all makes and models of trucks, trailers, and off-site plant like the generators and industrial engines that power fixed plant. NZ Trucks is the central Canterbury regional service agent for Iveco trucks, vans, and light trucks through an association goes back decades, and its workshop is equipped with the latest diagnostic tools and full complement of IVECO service tools to ensure the company provides the best possible service for the IVECO product. Technicians receive regular factory training to stay up to date with the latest models and technology. NZ Trucks is also a recognised service provider for market leading Hammar side-loaders, and the Transport Engineering workshop is well-equipped and has experienced staff to provide repair and servicing for these and other makes and models. The workshop also has the capability to carry out chassis and deck repairs and modifications, as well as the setting-up of new trucks. Another significant agency held by NZ Trucks is for the trailer manufacturer Fruehauf NZ Ltd, known for its dedication to delivering innovation and outstanding service for the road transport industry, and making NZ Trucks proud to be a service provider supporting the Fruehauf product in the Canterbury region. The service provided is delivered primarily through NZ Trucks’ transport engineering workshop where the staff have the necessary training and expertise to keep the wheels rolling and the productivity high. The lube bay operation in the NZ Trucks workshop comprises a small, dedicated staff of technicians who operate in two full-length service bays, one of which is equipped with in-ground brake rollers. Both bays are in use all day, every day, and are in especially big demand on Saturday, +64 3 741 2261 tractionair@trt.co.nz 6 Brydone Rd, Hornby South, Christchurch Designed & Manufactured by: MANAGING TYRE PRESSURE HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER, MORE ACCURATE OR SMARTER!
