The new memorial wing will acknowledge all the men and women from the Clutha District who have served — both past and into the future — with appropriate space for reflection. The building encompasses 3600sqm, split over two levels. Walking through the corten steel entrance visitors are welcomed by an open atrium. The district’s i-SITE and Clutha District Council Service Centre are located in the main atrium space. The ground floor will also include a movie theatre, and an auditorium with multipurpose in mind from a cultural, community, theatrical, and business standpoint, and to meet the requirements of existing user groups. With a 478 person retractable seating system, flat floor resilient stage, modern theatre technology and end-to-end lighting/grid system the space will cater for theatre productions, shearing, small bore, and indoor bowls, conferences, business seminars, live bands, community fundraisers, fashion shows. It is also designed to meet the requirements of New Zealand’s leading regional programmes such as the Royal New Zealand Ballet. The upper level will contain co-working spaces and meeting rooms, a board room, provision for a tenancy, and a public viewing gallery overlooking the Clutha River. “The Trust is also working with additional partners to allow programmes currently not available in the district to be executed here once the facility is operational. “For example we’ve been working with organisations like Innovate HQ in Dunedin, who have been developing pathway programmes for youths. “Our economic development agency, Clutha Developments, will be one of our core tenants, working out of one of the co-working spaces. “So it’s not just about the building, it’s the total impact it will have on the community.” CONSTRUCTION Interior 022 470 2485 interiorconstruction.co.nz ICON provides all the trades and experience you need to complete your interior fit-out project in a single contractor.
