14 | DEVELOPMENT Les Mills & Cook Brothers: Meridian Hall T T Karen Phelps Les Mills set to unveil new facility Get ready, Dunedin, because a new era of fitness is on the horizon. Les Mills is on schedule to open its highly anticipated facility in the heart of Dunedin city’s Meridian Mall at the end of October. “We’re producing a world-class facility that Dunedin hasn’t seen before,” says CEO of Les Mills New Zealand Brett Sutton. “We’re incredibly excited about what we’re going to be offering the community.” One major thing that sets the new facility apart is that it will be the first Les Mills in New Zealand to showcase the Live Forward concept, a brand philosophy that promotes inclusivity and accessibility to a wider range of people. This concept is reflected in the design of the facility, with attention paid to light, colour palettes and workout selection. “To Live Forward is to be mindful of the present and make choices that benefit your future self — such as connecting with your community to experience the joy of movement together,” explains Brett. “We’re bringing a clean and simple approach to our look and feel and Les Mills Dunedin will soon be one of Les Mills’ flagship clubs.” With a keen focus on community, Brett says Les Mills aims to foster connection within the facility through transitional spaces. This commitment to inclusivity and engagement is embedded in every aspect from the various workout spaces to the specialised amenities. It will introduce two new boutique programs: CEREMONY® and THE TRIP®. CEREMONY® is a 45-minute functional training workout that fosters a sense of community while focusing on whole-body strength, cardio and conditioning. “Designed for all fitness levels CEREMONY® involves cardio machines, functional equipment, and bodyweight exercises in circuit style training. People can enjoy the motivation of training with like-minded people and make new friends in these workouts,” says Brett.
