RESIDENTIAL • COMMERCIAL In a bustling construction site one often overlooked yet critical aspect of construction stands tall – scaffolding. And nobody understands what workers on a building site need more than a seasoned builder. Enter Action Scaffolding, led by ex builder Mark Backhouse, who brings his expert touch to the world of scaffolding. “As a builder myself, I know what the builders want from their scaffolding and their supplier,” says Mark who runs the company with wife Kay. “Our scaffolding is not built from a scaffolder’s point of view, it’s built from a builder’s point of view. With an intimate understanding of the ins and outs of construction, I can attest that scaffolding is an art form unto itself. It’s not merely about placing planks and tubes in a strategic manner; it’s a delicate dance that requires precision, safety and an unerring eye for detail.” He says that Action Scaffolding understands that the success of a construction project hinges on the foundation of safety. Its team of experts doesn’t just erect scaffolding; it engineers safe pathways that allow workers to traverse great heights with confidence. Each Action Scaffolding team includes a New Zealand ticketed scaffolder and a first aider. All team members are current Site Safe members. “Every construction site has its unique personality, its own set of challenges, and its distinct scaffolding requirements. “We leverage our in-depth knowledge to tailor solutions that seamlessly align with each project’s intricacies. Scaffolding is a crucial component in mitigating risks and ensuring a secure working environment, which, in turn, translates into heightened efficiency and accelerated project timelines,” says Mark. One of the most impressive feats of Action Scaffolding lies in its ability to anticipate the ever-changing demands of a construction site. Mark says that the dynamics on a construction site can evolve rapidly, necessitating adjustments in scaffolding arrangements. Action Scaffolding’s adeptness at reading the pulse of a project and recalibrating scaffolding solutions on the fly underscores its agility and commitment to excellence. “In a construction landscape where time is money, Action Scaffolding streamlines processes and eliminates bottlenecks. “Our expertise in understanding the flow of work and the optimal positioning of scaffolding ensures that projects progress smoothly.” Another aspect that sets Action Scaffolding apart is its unwavering commitment to quality. The company is a dedicated member of Scaffolding, Access & Rigging New Zealand, which is the industry body for the profession. Action Scaffolding has recently invested in more equipment and two new trucks to keep up with demand. It has just finished a big block of units for Kāinga Ora comprising around 18 separate two-storey buildings and a full block of apartments in Clyde Road. “It was about ensuring we hit deadlines as the deadlines on a big project like this are tight. We had a dedicated crew there for months. The project was also an indication of our resources and capability to complete large contracts.” Action Scaffolding is currently completing a job for the new Quest hotel on Kilmore Street in Christchurch and has just finished a project at Clarkeville School and is gearing up for a large job at Woodend School.
