Many people cannot afford to buy new homes and RenoMasters has the opportunity to renovate their older home to keep costs down, giving them a much warmer, healthier and more functional family home that they can be proud of.” The genesis of RenoMasters was the need to establish a vehicle for the maintenance, renovation and repair of a portfolio of rental properties that Andrew’s wife was managing through her property management company. Through word-of-mouth reputation grew, and soon other landlords were requesting the services of Andrew’s small renovation team, and in 2018 the business formally took on the RenoMasters name. “The market had a lot of second-hand properties that mum and dad investors were purchasing and they wanted to tidy them up by putting in a new bathroom or insulating the walls. There was also an opportunity to assist landlords get their properties compliant with new legislation. There was a real growth in that market over that period of time.” For RenoMasters, a key pivot point came after the first Covid lock-down. The property market had bounced back, people weren’t travelling, had money to spend, and mortgage rates were low. A lot of mum and dad home owners who were both employed full time, took advantage of renovating their homes. “Our focus shifted to the renovation of owner/occupier homes, and that just took off. We now work at the exclusive end of high-end bathroom renovations through to major home renovations between $500,000 - $800,000. Our target market is the middle aged, professional mum and dad owners of an older home that is in need of renovation. That work is predominantly being driven by the wife or partner. Typically the couple have the vision of what they want to achieve but may not have the time, skillset or contacts to be able to turn that vision to reality — and that is where we can help.” Typically operating within a 30-kilometre radius of Dunedin city, RenoMasters now employs a team of eight tradesmen, and has forged trusted relationships with a strong selection of subtrades, and other professionals including engineers, architects and architectural designers, who all form part of the construction team. “Our point of difference is that the homeowner will talk with one person within RenoMasters. Our point of difference is that RenoMasters is the central point of contact for the homeowner, as we coordinate the entire renovation project from start to finish. My job interview with the client commences with viewing the property, understanding the opportunity that the owners have and where their thinking is, then encouraging them to expand their thinking if need be. We select the best professionals for the project to work closely with the client, and then I bring my team in to do the work which might involve PLACEMAKERS DUNEDIN & MOSGIEL PLACEMAKERSDUNEDIN & MOSGIEL 50 BURNS ST & 34 CARNCROSS ST (03) 466 4617 PROUDLY SUPPORTING | www.ecoworkshop.co.nz | Renovations | New Builds | Building Consents | Alterations www.adamsnz.com - Book Online Now!
