Brannen Building Services BUILDING A new office and warehouse development is going up within Belfast Business Park, a collaboration between the developer, Arimak Properties Ltd and the project manager, Brannen Building Services of Rangiora. Licensed building practitioner Robbie Brannen says the new development is within the 22ha integrated industrial-zoned land at Belfast Business Park, the site of the former Belfast Freezing Works. Close to major transport arterials to the airport and the Anzac Drive ring route toward Lyttelton, Belfast Business Park is proving a wise investment for a diverse range of industrial and commercial operations. Robbie says the new office/warehouse is being built on a 2000 sq. metre section on the corner of Seven Mile Drive and Frank Coxon Drive. “It’s going to be a purpose-built, two-storey office block with attached warehouse, incorporating six roller doors for designated loading and docking bays.” The structural steel framing is up, and the long-run roofing was about to go on followed by timber in fill framing and finishing and the exterior aluminium cladding. “The total floor area including mezzanine floors is just on 600 sq. metres,” says Robbie. “The northern end of the building is two storeys, so that contains the offices and facilities and then to the south is a single-storey warehouse of about 350 sq. metres.” The building is purpose-built for its commercial tenant, Metro Property Services Ltd (MPS) a commercial property and facilities maintenance company. Since its inception in 1991, MPS has been headquartered out of Bromley, so is looking forward to moving into the brand-new premises upon completion of the build, expected in early 2025. MPS provide comprehensive commercial maintenance services including building maintenance, grounds maintenance, plumbing and electrical services, asbestos surveys & removal management, commercial cleaning, pest control, driveways and insulation. For Brannen Building Services the business park development is the first within Belfast but is one of many completed over the 40 years Robbie has been within the construction sector. Robbie worked alongside a contract administrator on the Seven Mile Drive development to handle health and safety and financials, allowing Robbie to focus entirely on co-ordinating construction. Robbie Brannen is a vastly experienced builder and project manager who holds a Diploma in Building Surveying. A Rangiora local, Robbie once worked for the Hurunui District Council for five years as a building inspector and consent processor. “I’ve got good insight into council processes and an all-round view of the Building Act and the Building Code.” “I’ve been around a long time and have built and project managed many a build around Canterbury – from multi-million-dollar architectural homes to light commercial, even wedding venues and destination residences.” Rangiora born and bred, Robbie began his apprenticeship in 1984, before leaving for a stint in Launceston City, Tasmania where he worked within the heritage restoration sector for five years before returning home to start his own building company. “Then I went to council before forming Brannen Building Services in partnership with my wife Beryl, and today we offer full construction and project management services for commercial or residential projects throughout Canterbury.” • RESIDENTIAL • SECURITY CAMERAS & ALARMS • HOME AUTOMATION • COMMERCIAL • MAINTENANCE & SERVICING KAIAPOI KAIAPOI'S LOCAL BUILDING SUPPLY STORE Right products, right advice.
