34 | The Cargo Collective: The Brew Hall T T Alexia Anderson Queenstown venue hits the spot “Residents of the Queenstown Lakes area have expressed their excitement and enthusiasm for having a new venue that serves as a social hub.” REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Nestled in Arthurs Point, Queenstown, The Cargo Collective’s new Brew Hall is fast becoming the go-to-destination for events. The venue is a modern, versatile and high tech space, which is the latest offering at The Cargo Collective on Arthurs Point Rd, providing a premier events centre and social hub. Kirsten Brenner, of the Cargo Collective, describes the venue as a versatile space for a wide range of activities, including concerts, festivals, corporate events, community gatherings, private celebrations and unique team building activities. “In addition to hosting events, it will feature our brewery, offering locally crafted beverages, enhancing the overall experience for South Island residents and visitors.” The concept for The Brew Hall began in 2020, when the team took over Gantley’s, a local establishment. They were inspired by the under-utilised space in the back garden and envisioned an attractive venue that would serve multiple purposes. The idea was to build a brewery and events space that would breathe new life into the area, making it a versatile and attractive destination for both locals and visitors. Kirsten said the completion of The Brew Hall has been well received by the community, with many praising the modern design, spacious layout, and welcoming atmosphere. Designed by Queenstown-based Yoke Architects, The Brew Hall features a beautiful stone exterior, high ceilings, and glass panels that provide a view into the adjoining brewery. The open floor plan serves as a blank canvas for creative events, accommodating 170 people seated or 240 standing. Construction of The Brew Hall went smoothly, a testament to the work of The Lakes Building Company. The building was completed a year after construction began, to the exact specifications of the design, reflecting the professionalism and dedication of the entire team. Since its opening on June 29, feedback has been “overwhelmingly positive”. “Residents of the Queenstown Lakes area have expressed their excitement and enthusiasm for having a new venue that serves as a social hub. Many have praised the modern design, spacious layout, and the welcoming atmosphere.” Event organisers and attendees have also lauded the versatility of the space, noting it is well-equipped to handle a wide variety of events. The Brew Hall is not just a venue; it supports community engagement and economic activity, which attracts visitors from outside the area and is helping to boost local tourism. “This influx of visitors can have a positive ripple effect on other local businesses,” Kirsten explains. The Brew Hall is available year-round for events, which ensures the community and visitors have a consistent space available to them regardless of the season. Additionally, The Cargo Collective plans to host fundraising events and partner with local charities, promoting a culture of giving back. Looking ahead, The Cargo Collective has further plans for The Brew Hall. The team will introduce new beverage brands, including spirits, ciders, sodas, and non-alcoholic options. They also plan to create new events that complement the brand and further contribute to the community. Located at 172 Arthurs Point Road, Queenstown, The Brew Hall is officially open and ready to welcome guests, while also becoming a cornerstone of community and celebration in Queenstown. Proudly supporting The Cargo Collective
