The company has recently unveiled two products, the Micron Filter and the Mud Tower, with a third cutting-edge solution in the final stages of development. “Our suite of water treatment solutions is designed to address the growing need for sustainable water use in fresh produce processing,” says Wyma Solutions sales representative Peter Molloy. “The drive towards reducing water consumption and improving treatment before disposal has been a key focus for us.” The Micron Filter, an ultra-fine, high-capacity, self-cleaning water treatment solution, represents a significant leap forward in first-stage water filtration, he says. With a standard filtration level of 0.15mm, it can remove a substantial amount of organic matter and debris from water in a single pass. “This innovative, patent-pending technology is exclusive to Wyma. It’s capable of reducing Total Suspended Solids by more than 60% in wash line and processing line wastewater.” Complementing the Micron Filter is the Mud Tower, a unique gravity separator designed for efficient solid extraction. Peter describes it as a specially designed system that removes settleable solids from vegetable wash-water or other soil-laden water bodies. He says the Mud Tower’s ability to discharge these solids in a dry form makes it easy to convey or transport, offering a chemical-free and low-maintenance solution for soil extraction. The third product in the suite is the ElectroClear System, currently in the final stages of development. “The drive towards reducing water consumption and improving treatment before disposal has been a key focus for us.” “The ElectroClear will serve as the final stage of our comprehensive water treatment system,” explains Peter. “It uses advanced electrocoagulation technology to further purify water, effectively removing suspended solids and significantly reducing contaminants like E-coli, phosphorous, and nitrates.” These innovations come on the heels of a major expansion for Wyma Solutions. Eighteen months ago, the company moved into a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Christchurch. The impact of this move has been transformative for the business, says Peter. “Our new facility is over twice the size of our previous premises. It’s a really impressive site, housing our headquarters, design centre and world-class manufacturing operations.” Located at 928 Halswell Junction Road in Islington, Christchurch, the facility boasts dedicated fabrication and assembly areas, multiple large surface coating booths, and a dedicated research and development facility. The benefits of this new facility are already apparent. “Eighteen months down the track, we’ve streamlined the manufacturing process, creating significant efficiencies. “Processes that once spanned multiple buildings now take place under one roof, and we have the capacity to grow as Wyma continues on its steep growth trajectory. “The expanded facility has also allowed us to bring more of our manufacturing in-house. “We control the manufacturing process all the way from fabrication to final assembly and testing, to guarantee a premium product, which is crucial for us and our customers.” He says the new facility has also had a positive impact on Wyma’s workforce. With amenities like a cafeteria, a gym, and even a small community garden, the company has prioritised employee well being. “There’s a real team spirit here,” says Peter. “The open-plan office encourages collaboration, which is a massive part of what we do. We hope the new facility not only enhances the well being of existing staff but also helps us to attract new talent.” He says that as Wyma Solutions continues to innovate and expand, the company, which includes an office and manufacturing site in Prague and an office in the UK, is well positioned to meet the growing global demand for solutions in the fresh produce industry.
