T T Kim Bowden Trinity Construction and Projects BUILDING When it comes to high-end residential construction, Trinity Construction and Projects has earned a reputation for delivering homes that blend architectural ambition with masterful execution. Their latest project, the ‘Master Stroke’ home, exemplifies this ethos. Located within the exclusive Millbrook Resort on the outskirts of Arrowtown, the 816sqm residence exudes quiet grandeur. Its multi-gable rooflines, schist cladding, and timber-lined interiors balance strength and softness, echoing the charm of the region’s lodge-style dwellings. Inside, a central lounge anchored by a double-sided fireplace flows seamlessly into the kitchen, dining, and outdoor entertaining spaces. Light-filled living areas feature raked ceilings and clerestory windows, capturing long views over the golf course to the surrounding peaks. Outdoors, every detail has been considered, from the covered terrace with fireplace to the landscaped poolside grounds. A smart-home system integrates entry, blinds, lighting, audio, and security, ensuring convenience without compromising elegance. “It’s located on one of the best sites in Millbrook,” says Trinity project manager Brad Dowman. “It was one of the first homes started in the Mill Farm area – elevated, with views from the tee box to the green.” The project’s success was recognised at the Southern Region House of the Year awards, where it claimed the coveted top spot in the New Home over $4 million category as well as Outdoor Living and Kitchen Excellence titles and a gold award for craftmanship. It also secured a place in the national Top 100 homes of the competition. The accolades add to Trinity’s track record, reinforcing its reputation in the luxury residential market. “Our team specialises in high-end work,” Brad says. “We’ve got a vast skill set, from the concrete works right through to the finishing. The management side is critical too – pricing, planning, and collaborating with clients, architects, and designers. That whole process is what allows us to deliver these stunning homes.” Despite its seamless finish, the two-year build was not without challenges. Supply chain disruption during Covid-19 required creative problem-solving. “We had to use multiple suppliers and even stockpile materials on site,” Brad recalls. “Fortunately, with a build of this length, you’ve got more lead time to make sure what you need is there when you need it.” Founded in 2012, Trinity Construction and Projects has grown into one of the South Island’s most respected luxury home builders, employing a crew of around 25 carpenters. For them, projects like the Master Stroke Home offer more than just a challenging build. The variety and complexity of top-end residential work gives the team opportunities to develop new skills, take on tasks above the normal carpentry level, and grow their craftsmanship. “It’s quite rewarding for our guys,” Brad says. Supported by a skilled management team, the company is structured to handle feasibility, design, procurement, pricing, and construction all in-house. “It’s a very collaborative process right from the start, right through to the finishing details,” Brad says.
