Led by director Matt Farmer, the business has just wrapped up its plumbing and gas- fitting works at Flockhill Station’s new luxury villas, a project set in one of the most spectacular and remote landscapes in New Zealand. Situated in the Southern Alps on a 36,000acre high country station, Flockhill offers fivestar accommodation, world-class cuisine, and a winter escape like no other. “It’s an incredible project to be a part of,” Matt says. “It’s definitely up there – architecturally and logistically – with the most impressive jobs we’ve worked on. Flockhill is a really special place.” Matt and his team tendered for the job through one of their regular commercial building partners and were brought on early in the process. With stage 1 of the development complete, MF Plumbing and Gas Solutions is now working on Flockhill’s day spa, which it expects to continue through to the end of the year. “We’ve had some pretty extreme weather conditions up there – wind, rain, and snow, and a lot of challenges just keeping things moving. But we do whatever we can to keep the project on track.” It’s not just the alpine weather that’s made recent times difficult. Matt says, like many in the industry, MF Plumbing and Gas Solutions has felt the impact of a prolonged downturn in the construction sector. Despite that, the company continues to push forward, backed by a loyal client base and a commitment to running lean. “We’ve definitely been through some tough times, but I think we’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel now,” he says. “We’ve got some more commercial work coming up and in the meantime, it’s about staying efficient and looking after our clients.” That client-first approach has been the backbone of MF Plumbing and Gas Solutions since Matt founded the business 14 years ago.
