The team is passionate about building control and automation technologies, and has seen demand for its expertise growing across a number of sectors. Its main services are IT and communications, building security and access control, and building control that includes residential and commercial automation, audio-visual systems and lighting design and installation. “We offer all of the above and more, then we integrate (it) together for a simple to use yet smart management system,” director James Watson says. The firm has been operating as Integrate for four years, having previously been part of Northbrook Group. Starting an IT support company 20 years ago, James soon moved into building security, building control and standard electrical wiring, and grew to develop a niche service. There are currently three full-time staff, one part-time, and four regular contractors for electrical works. The team stays ahead of the curve by keeping educated in the ever-growing smart-tech and electrical space. Integrate’s main clients are small-to-medium businesses and residential clients. James sees the firm’s role as essential for a number of industries. “We offer customised communications solutions, data security and redundancy, managed services and more. Technology and communications support is a growing area, but also a very fast-changing one. We are always learning and pushing the limits for the benefit of our clients.” One recent large project has been working with Amalgamated Builders on Coastguard Canterbury’s new building at Lyttelton. The company installed the electrical, building security and CCTV systems, integrating them all together so that the system is fully automated ready for any emergency that may occur. This included installing a PTZ camera capable of seeing up Lyttelton harbour day or night, and a radio antenna system. James says the company has good relationships with many of the CCTV suppliers, and has the access to more specialised technology that was required for this job, especially given how exposed it is to sea water 24/7. The project also included developing a training room and event space with a large smart screen to assist with training and largescale multi-agency operations. There is also specialised custom lighting in the building for emergency night vision. Integrate recently worked with O’Connell Builders on a large family home that this year received the Smart Home Award at the Canterbury Regional Registered Master Builders House of the Year awards. The house has a building control system, which can operate windows, blinds, lighting, and heating. This build is using KNX control and automation and has voice control. The house also boasts six zones of audio and state-of-the-art lighting design. One of Integrate’s regular clients is Kiwi Gaming Foundation, installing and maintaining CCTV, jackpot systems and “all things gaming room related”, James says. A key project currently on the go is a 1950s’ villa that is being renovated into a smart home, and there are few others that are still in the design stage. The team is continuing to fine tune the Coastguard building. The company is working on developing a more universal building control system that will integrate all of the existing products it supplies, and more. “One app that will be able to talk to everything that we install, smart appliances that the client purchases and future technologies as they become available,” James says. Currently, some clients can end up with several apps to operate their home, depending on what systems they already have installed. “I have always taken pride in listening to my clients, learning what they want to achieve and making it happen,” James says. info@integrate.nz | www.integrate.nz | 0800 901 001 Pulling all of the above together to personalise to the clients needs.
