Award-winning practice, RM Designs, brought the design vision to life, working with their consultants and project team, the council, DWC and with support from Ngāti Waewae. Other key members of the delivery team were SMART Project Management Ltd, Tony Wilkins Builder Limited and ENGCO (structural engineering). Coastwood Furniture, along with many local tradespeople, also contributed to the quality outcome. “This is a building that will be enjoyed for generations, a place where people will learn, connect, create memories and continue to strengthen our Grey District community,” Grey District Mayor Tania Gibson said in a recent statement on the project. Meanwhile, Grey District Council has been investing in its future in other ways, too, having funded a major expansion of the McLeans Pit Landfill & Recycling Centre in Coal Creek, Greymouth, with the construction of a new engineered rubbish cell, Cell 3B. It provides nine years of capacity for the district’s waste management needs, and has been achieved through a modern, engineered design solution to ensure strict compliance with environmental and resource consent requirements.
