T T Rosa Watson Health products made to order Alaron’s broad manufacturing platform includes natural health products, complementary medicines, therapeutic goods, medical devices, animal health products and skincare. “These systems are designed to reduce the risk of contamination, product defects, mix-ups and manufacturing errors, while ensuring that each batch is produced consistently and can be fully traced.” From its Nelson base, Alaron Products is helping brands take natural health, wellness and therapeutic products from concept to commercial scale. With more than three decades of manufacturing experience, the New Zealand-owned contract manufacturing and development partner combines technical expertise, regulatory support, flexible production, and packaging under one roof for customers targeting domestic and international markets. Alaron’s broad manufacturing platform includes natural health products, complementary medicines, therapeutic goods, medical devices, animal health products and skincare. Its dosage and delivery capabilities span capsules, tablets, chewable tablets, powders, sachets, stick packs, effervescent products, chews, liquids, creams, gels, ointments, sprays and other semi-solid products. The Nelson facility includes 42 manufacturing and packaging rooms operating under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) conditions, supported by a broad range of primary and secondary packing formats. “This flexibility allows clients to work with one manufacturing partner from concept through to a fully packed, market-ready product,” chief executive officer, Patricia Kitchen, says. For international customers, that integrated model can simplify a complex supply chain with quality systems, regulatory expertise and manufacturing infrastructure designed to meet differing requirements across New Zealand, Australia, China, the United States and other global markets. A team of over 135 specialists work across new product development, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, quality control laboratory services, planning, engineering, warehousing, logistics and manufacturing operations. The directors have helped guide Alaron’s long-term development, with a continuing focus on quality, technical capability and customer partnership. Patricia says Alaron’s strength is the combination of its equipment and facilities with the technical knowledge of its people. Alaron’s certifications, including GMP, TGA, and NSF, provide customers with assurance that products are manufactured under controlled, documented and consistently applied systems. “These systems are designed to reduce the risk of contamination, product defects, mix-ups and manufacturing errors, while ensuring that each batch is produced consistently and can be fully traced,” Patricia says. Established in 1993, and still proudly New Zealand owned, Alaron has grown over more than 30 years into one of the country’s leading natural health product manufacturers. Recent investment has expanded internal laboratory capability, stability chambers, automated filling and packing equipment, extrusion technology, medical device manufacturing capability and additional powder and canning lines. Specialist capabilities now include freeze-drying, extrusion, can filling, powder filling and a wide range of primary and secondary packing formats. “Today, Alaron can support formulation, product development, technical transfer, regulatory strategy, raw material sourcing, analytical testing, commercial manufacture, packing and ongoing product lifecycle management,” Patricia says. “For customers, that means fewer hand-offs and a partner that can stay with a product as it develops, scales and reaches new markets.” Alaron was among the early New Zealand manufacturers to achieve GMP certification, and is a founding member of Natural Health Products New Zealand. The company works with customers at different stages of growth, from start-ups developing a first commercial product, to established New Zealand and international businesses across natural health, wellness, sports
