Core capabilities for RDA are: Geotechnical engineering - soil-bearing capacity assessments, natural hazard (slope stability and liquefaction) assessments, subdivision geotechnical services, construction monitoring, earthworks and structural fill certification. Civil engineering - residential and commercial site development, stormwater systems, wastewater systems, erosion and sediment control, consent engineering support, subdivision infrastructure and effluent pond design. Environmental/planning - farming compliance and consents, effluent pond drop tests and storage calculations, structural integrity assessments, discharge and water take consents, land use consents and land development. “Our key sectors are residential, industrial and commercial development, including subdivisions along with farming and supporting rural needs for consenting and compliance,” says Stephen. “We also do drinking-water safety plans, for example. for schools drawing off bore water, to make sure they are compliant.” With the approach of spring, the RDA team will be busy in the dairy sector undertaking effluent pond drop tests and visual inspections to ensure ponds are compliant for consent renewals. Over the past five years, RDA Consulting has provided quality solutions for various high- profile projects, such as Scapegrace Distillery in Cromwell, where the team delivered civil infrastructure design for pavements, wastewater and stormwater, along with construction monitoring and sign-off. At the Northlake premier residential development in Wānaka, RDA Consulting delivered geotechnical services across multiple stages, and provided construction monitoring and certification as well as providing earth-fill validation and final completion reports to Queenstown Lakes District Council. Another major project, still ongoing, has drawn on RDA’s expertise in geotechnical investigation, construction and industry collaboration, and involves a multi-storey car park and accommodation development on Hansen Road in Queenstown.
