T T from page 46 Investment within Westhaven is being matched by significant upgrades to the surrounding transport network. NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi has begun the second stage of its SH1 Rolleston Access Improvements project, centred on a new bridge over the state highway and railway line linking Rolleston’s residential areas with its industrial and business precincts. “Better connections across Rolleston make a real difference to how easily people can move between home, work, school and the town centre, and that only adds to the appeal of living here.” Discussions are also underway with the Ministry of Education, and it is expected that at least two schools will eventually be built within Westhaven. The wider district’s school network is also expanding to meet demand. A new Government funding package for South Island schools includes the next stage of expansion at Rolleston College and a new 18-classroom primary school for Lincoln South in Earlsbrook. Buyer interest is coming from near and far, including from Aucklanders looking to relocate or invest. Demand is also being boosted by Selwyn’s strong economic performance. Infometrics data shows the district’s GDP grew 1.5% in the year to June 2025, against a national decline, while business numbers, employment and residential building consents all increased over the same period. Unemployment remains well below the national average. Selwyn is also home to Lincoln University, leading research organisations, and a strong primary sector. Westhaven Rolleston sits on TC1 land, classified as the lowest-risk ground category following the Canterbury earthquakes. Carter Group is thankful to all involved in bringing the project to first-stage launch. “A project of this scale relies on the commitment of a lot of people. We’re grateful to everyone who has helped bring Westhaven to this point,” says Tim. Carter Group, a family-owned company established in 1946, has extensive experience in Canterbury subdivision development, having delivered projects including Earlsbrook in Lincoln, Hyde Park in Avonhead and Regents Park in Casebrook.
