Bradley and Murch Builders are architectural building specialists in Southland that use innovative materials to bring unique homes to life. Recently celebrating 10 years in business, Marcus Bradley and Lukus Murch are lifelong friends that built the foundation of their business on a strong relationship that now encompasses the whole team and their clients. “Being born-and-bred Southlanders, we decided that starting our own business was the best way to build a future for ourselves.” With well over 30 years of combined experience in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom, the team now includes one employed builder and two apprentices, reflecting the company’s commitment to growing local capability and helping train the next generation of Southland builders. Being director-led and hands on builders means Marcus and Lukus lead the team onsite, managing each project day-to-day and physically contributing to the construction. “Because Marcus and Lukus are actively supervising and working on each project, they maintain a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout the build.” Project management is one of their standout points of difference, and wives Grace and Charlotte provide the icing on the cake with their administration skills — keeping the team on track. Charlotte is also enjoying being on the Southland Master Build executive and learning all about the challenges and ongoing changes of the industry. The past decade has brought significant industry challenges including material shortages, rising fuel and freight costs from international events, and sharp increases in construction material prices. “That being said, we’re so grateful to be running a business in Southland where we generally experience more stability than the rest of the country, not to mention working with great people.” The business has completed a broad range of work across the region, including townhouses, architecturally designed homes, renovations, sheds, decks, and residential and commercial projects.
