Message From Auckland Emergency Management Auckland Emergency Management (AEM) has been actively engaged in strengthening West Auckland’s resilience and readiness for emergencies. Recently, we launched the Local Board Emergency Readiness and Response Plans, marking a significant step toward empowering communities across Auckland. These plans provide tailored strategies for each local board, ensuring that residents, businesses, and community groups are equipped with the knowledge and tools to respond effectively during an emergency. In addition to the launch of these plans, AEM has been attending a wide range of events and meetings throughout West Auckland. These engagements have allowed us to collaborate directly with local groups, helping them to develop their own emergency preparedness plans and build resilience within their communities. By fostering strong relationships with local organisations and leaders, we ensure that Auckland’s neighbourhoods are well-equipped to face challenges, no matter how large or small. AEM also hosted a highly successful Community Civil Defence and Emergency Management forum, which brought together stakeholders from various sectors to discuss best practices, share insights, and explore ways to enhance community resilience. The forum provided an invaluable opportunity for participants to learn from each other and deepen their understanding of the vital role civil defence and emergency management play in safeguarding Auckland’s residents. Through these initiatives, Auckland Emergency Management is helping to create a city that is not only prepared for emergencies but also united in its efforts to build a resilient, connected, and well-informed community. Whether it’s launching new plans, attending community events, or running forums, AEM is committed to ensuring Auckland is ready to face whatever the future holds. 12 Page NS Waitakere
