Neighbourhood Support Waitakere 2022

Hi, I’m Aron McKeown and I’m the Waitakere Youth and Community Manager based at Henderson Police Station. My role consists of leading the teams in the Youth and Community space, they are the Massey and New Lynn Community Stations, and our Henderson based Prevention Units, Youth Aid and Public Counter. I am fortunate to lead these high performing Sergeants who do an excellent job leading the prevention activities in your area. My message to all of the Community is the importance of prevention. Preventing crimes is our best way to keep our Community safe. There are plenty of things you can do to prevent crime from happening and we have further information on our website: https://www.police.govt.nz I would like to acknowledge our relationships with our partner agencies; Neighbourhood Support and Community Patrol, they support and help drive our vision to be the safest country. The last couple of years have been extremely tough but your commitment to your community is truly appreciated Reporting crime is vital as well, reporting lets us understand any crime patterns occurring, and from this we can effectively task prevention activities to the right place to prevent future harm. Therefore, I encourage you to report to Police when you observe a crime, either call 111 in an emergency - if it’s happening at the time, or 105 – if it has already happened. We have some amazing people at our stations if you prefer to speak to someone in person, at the moment the Henderson station is our only 24 hour available station. Thank you for taking the time to read this article and I look forward to the on-going positive relationship you have with us. The following pages in this edition offer Prevention Advice around THEFTS FROM VEHICLES. I look forward to getting back into our Safer Plate events soon.
