Neighbourhood Support Waitakere & North Shore 2023/24

A message from the CHAIR Michael Chan Foung Talofa Lava, Our warmest greetings to you, our readers and supporters. On behalf of our Team, I would like to acknowledge the recent Cyclone Hale and Gabrielle events which have created horrific and ongoing difficulties and hardship for our worst affected communities, in particular those who have experienced the catastrophic trauma of losing treasured loved ones. Our deepest and heartfelt thoughts are with all who continue to experience the shocking aftermath of these events. We’ve witnessed the very best of community spirit and I commend everyone involved in the Emergency response and subsequent recovery efforts. Our teams were quick to support, connect and reach out to our most vulnerable and affected, working in with our collaborative partners whilst managing their own storm damage and effects. Despite the adversity, we continue to maintain a trusted, reliable and sustainable network which continues to grow and thrive in profile, ensuring our ongoing commitment towards community connectedness and wellbeing. Our staff remain flexible in their approach to core business, ready to adapt in an ever changing and diverse climate of priorities. We continue our core daily business, maintaining our popular signature events such as Safer Plates, along with community engagement and local event participation as we strive to build and strengthen the working relationships with our strategic partners and likeminded community groups. I wish to thank all of you who support our commitment in ensuring our community members feel safer, resilient and connected communities. Knowing our neighbours and encouraging communities to Reach Out, Look Out, Help Out are key motivators in enhancing all aspects of social wellbeing. Stay safe Soifua Manuia Michael 10 Page
