Neighbourhood Support Waitakere and the Waitakere Community Policing teams have been running the Safer Plates events consistently since 2012. We also work alongside the Community Patrols in the area where we are holding an event in. We are grateful to the business venues who cohost us for these events, we would not be able to do what we do without their support. During this time, we have changed the number plates screws on more than 7500 vehicles. We are hoping to expand this service to the North Shore at some point during the 2023/34 period. Our events are posted on Facebook on the Neighbourhood Support Waitakere page and on the North Shore, Rodney & West Auckland Police page. So follow either of those pages for updates of where the next events are being held. Safer Plates & Free Tool Engraving Events The cost is a donation of $4 = $1 per “Stainless Steel” screw and the service is FREE to our SuperGold card holders and to the members of the public (number plate theft referrals) who have had their number plates stolen. We reinstall their new plates for free with our safer ‘stainless steel’ screws. We also provide the FREE tool engraving to our Tradies or for residents to bring along their home tools to be engraved.
