Meet Our NZ Police Community Liaison for Waitakere & North Shore Grant Watson Senior Sergeant Youth and Community Manager Waitemata West (Waitakere) Why did you become a Police Officer? I really enjoy working with people and doing what I can to help in difficult times. Policing offered me this opportunity alongside a challenging and varied working environment. My Grandfather was a police officer and I recall fondly some of the story’s he used to tell, I very lucky to have been able to follow in his footsteps. How long have you been a NZ Police officer for? 27 years What do you like / love the most about your job? No two days are the same in the police you just never know what you might be dealing with. It is also a privilege to serve the community in a way that only the police can. What do you like / love about the community area you work in? I live and work in the West and it I can say without doubt it’s a proud and passionate community. Waitakere is a beautiful place with some the best beaches in the world and a pretty special environment. The community is very resilient and I found has a real can do attitude. The community agency’s the we work with are super supportive and really want to make a difference.
