April has been all about making our neighbourhoods safer and more resilient with Neighbourhood Support leading the charge. They've brought together residents, stakeholders, and community champions in a proactive effort. Our Northshore Coordinator has been right in the middle of it all, joining street BBQs, working alongside the likes of Auckland Emergency Management, community champions, teaming up with Police, and collaborating with local social services and key stakeholders. One highlight was the community street BBQ in Beach Haven at the Maria Assumpta Parish, a joint effort alongside Police and local social services to create a 'be safe, feel safe' atmosphere. But it's not just about safety; it's about building trust and unity within our communities. The theme “Safer Communities” is all about practical actions everyone can take, from simple steps like locking doors to bigger initiatives like forming community resilience groups. Each action contributes to creating safer and more connected neighbourhoods where everyone feels at home and secure. Neighbourhood Support's dedication to Safer Communities shows our collective responsibility for neighbourhood wellbeing. So, what's your plan? How will you contribute to making your neighbourhood safer and more connected? Me mahi tahi tātou mō te oranga o te katoa. “We should work together for the wellbeing of everyone”.
