Neighbourhood Support Waitakere & North Shore 2024/25

A message from our CHAIR Michael Chan Foung Talofa Lava Warm Greetings to you, our readers and supporters. On behalf of our Team, I would like to acknowledge the ongoing difficulties that our communities have faced both from the catastrophic effects of the weather events in 2023 and the cost-of-living crisis we are facing across Aotearoa. Neighbourhood Support has never been more relevant, and our connected networks are providing the support that is needed for our groups, from sharing excess kai, produce or being that ear for someone to share with, sustaining mental health and wellbeing for members. We are finding that our resilient communities have the ability and community caring to think outside the box and support each other. We have had some changes with our staff, and Rebecca Smith who had been working in both the NSNS & Waitakere space, has now moved onto another role under NSNZ. NSNS now has a new Coordinator, Taylor Lake, we welcome you Taylor and we know you will be an asset to NSNS. After a long break due to covid we are seeing those wonderful events and festivals being held again, helping Māori and Pasifika people to connect. Our Safer Plates events have been ongoing and consistent, working alongside our CPNZ groups and NZ Community Policing Teams. Sponsorship from West City Autos group, Mega MItre 10 Westgate & Henderson and Stanley Black & Decker provided our organisation with the support to update our drills, sign writing, tear drop and maintenance of the trailer. Thank you to everyone who supports our commitment to Reach Out, Look Out, Help Out and being the key motivator of making sure our community members feel safer, connected and creating resilience in our communities. Stay safe Soifua Manuia Michael Chan Foung 9 Page NS Waitakere & NS North Shore
