Sue Russell H awera electrical business Chris Perrett Electri- cal Solutions has been in business nine years but Chris’s history in the industry straddles back 23 years in all. “I decided to step out on my own because I could see there was a need to specialise and focus more on servicing the dairy industry, which we are sur- rounded by here,” Chris explains. Asked what are the key factors that go into creating a successful business servicing that sector Chris says it comes down to having enough key staff and enough staff to be able to operate really flexibly, in a demanding industry, where responding to calls on site must be a priority. Today, Chris has a team of nine on the tools and two working in administration and he keeps his hand in, with about 40% of his own workload still out on sites – it’s a balance he enjoys. “My biggest role is overseeing day to day quoting and keeping jobs progressing well as they are often very time critical.” The company offers a 24/7 service which is es- sential given the large core of loyal farming custom- ers it has on its books.
