Kelly Deeks R olleston-based engineering firm Permbrand supports the agriculture industry nationwide with custom-built solutions packages to suit solve farmers’ problems and suit their require- ments. Since 2013, Permbrand has been importing the latest meal feeding equipment from Roxell in Belgium, assembling the systems in the Rolleston workshop, adapting them for compatibility with New Zealand herringbone and rotary sheds, and install- ing them in dairy sheds around the country. Meal feeding systems are Permbrand’s speciality, and its experience in this area gives the company the ability to apply this modification process to other associated imported equipment to allow it to be installed into any new or existing New Zealand dairy shed. Permbrand also designs and manufactures a number of its own products, usually in response to customer demand. About four years ago, demand for in-shed min- eral delivery led to Permbrand developing a mineral bin, the Permbrand Min-Bin. “We were approached by farmers looking for an alternative to putting powder on paddocks, and by CP Lime Solutions who had developed a new pelletised animal mineral supplement and needed an accurate method of getting the product into each cow at milking,” says Permbrand general manager Phill Shaw. “We developed a retrofittable mineral bin with a variable speed drive which provides accurate and effective delivery of mineral pellets into the dairy shed.” The Permbrand Min-Bin has a 1500L hopper, a sliding waterproof lid, a Duragalv support stand, and is compatible with herd management systems. Horse stalls and horse exercise arenas are also specialities of Permbrand, and in the past three years the company has completed three large equestrian projects, including a set of 16 stables for a horse owner in Tekapo, which were built in the Rolleston workshop, transported to Tekapo and installed in a large, custom built shed on site. Two other projects were for the annual National Standardbred Yearling sale at Canterbury Agricul- tural Park, one set of permanent stables for New Zealand Bloodstock, and one set of dismantlable and transportable stables for PGG Wrightson. “We built the two sets a year apart, and over the Christmas period too,” Phill says. “One of the things Permbrand can do is work to deadlines, even though at the moment it can be difficult to get things in from overseas.” That’s where Permbrand’s Rolleston workshop/ warehouse comes in. Permbrand stocks a large amount of imported components so customers won’t have to wait for their solution to become available. With a small team of five staff, Phill says the workforce can more easily adapt to different situa- tions, and has the flexibility to work around farmers’ schedules. Permbrand offers a responsive after-sales service and maintenance programme, taking care of its clients long after any installations have been completed. “If someone calls us for repairs or maintenance, we try to be there within 24 hours. We are a small, experienced, and responsive team, and we take pride in our customer service and follow up care and maintenance.” “One of the things Permbrand can do is work to deadlines, even though at the moment it can be difficult to get things in from overseas.” PERMBRAND.CO.NZ Contact PHILL SHAW 027 570 2772 Email: phill@permbrand.co.nz AND MUCH MORE FROM THE COMPANY THAT UNDERSTANDS MEAL FEEDING • Rotary, Herringbone & Robotic Sheds • Molasses’ Systems • PKE & Pellet Systems • Silos • Augers • Mills - New Generation - Skiold DISC MILLS • Mineral Dispenser’s • Dust Kits • Air Fluidizer Kits MEAL FEEDING SYSTEMS FOR...
