In 2020 he employed a technician with a background in engineering and pumping solutions, bringing a whole new aspect to the work of Ahoy Engineering. “Sometimes parts of the market can dry up, so it’s great to now be able to diversify,” Callum says. “There are fundamental aspects of the dairy industry that we can capitalise on by having the right experience in the team. ” A third technician was added to the team six months ago.” Electrical and automation has always been a big part of Ahoy Engineering’s work, and Callum sees this as a key focus for dairy farming going forward. From automatic drafting to automatic cup removers, the dairy industry is now starting to see increas- ing instances and options for automation in animal health and data collection.
