Michael emphasizes the importance of gaining experience and learning to advance in a farming career. “I value the insights gained from participating in dairy farm awards, which exposed me to various farming practices and herd management strategies and I greatly appreciate the opportunities farming provides, allowing individuals to start at an entrylevel, establish their own business, and pursue their dreams within the industry.” He acknowledges that while farm ownership might not be for everyone, the industry offers various paths for individuals to find their niche, rewarding hard work and commitment. Behind every successful man there is often a supportive and nurturing wife. In December 2008, Sheilah arrived in New Zealand with their eldest daughter Mikee who was a toddler at the time and is now 17 years old. Michael had gone ahead to set things up for their future. Shane, second daughter, was born a few years after they settled in the country. She is now 10 years old. Despite the struggles of settling in a new country, Sheilah’s unwavering support became the backbone of Michael’s success. Throughout their journey their family grew stronger.
