DAIRY PEOPLE » Hayden and Alecia Lawrence “We are now taking a more nuanced approach and adding in extra nutrients such as fish based fertiliser to feed the microorganisms and molasses to feed bacteria in the soil to take the farm to the next level.” • from page 20 The Lawrences have now completely replaced solid nitrogen application with liquid fertilisers, though they continue using solid capital fertiliser where required, with every paddock soil tested to determine specific needs. Elite Foliar Solutions, as Taranaki’s largest liquid fertiliser contractor, brings specialised expertise in formulation and application of high-quality liquid nutrients. The company’s precision ground and aerial applications, combined with advanced drone technology, deliver uniform coverage with minimal ground disturbance. This has helped the Lawrences grow more with less and obtain the most advantage out of what they apply. Importantly Elite Foliar Solutions has helped them apply to hard to reach hill country in what Hayden has termed “a game changer” for the farm. “Around 30% of our farm is hill country that we can’t get vehicles on,” explains Hayden. “Elite Foliar has Tow and Ferts on land cruisers and can use drones as well, so that has really opened up our hill country for us.” Hayden and Alecia Lawrence have partnered with FertFinda and Elite Foliar Solutions to unlock previously inaccessible farmland and achieve better grass growth on their 151-hectare effective Taranaki dairy farm.
