Temple Water Technologies Ltd (templewater.co.nz) was founded in 2001 by Managing Director and Water Chemist Chris Temple. With a NZCS Chemist quali cation, a strong scienti c background, and extensive industry experience, Chris set out to deliver scienti cally engineered water treatment solutions to rural New Zealand. Today, he leads a team of 12 specialists providing high-quality water ltration and treatment services to the agriculture and horticulture sectors. Temple Water Technologies is a market leader in water ltration and treatment solutions in New Zealand. Backed by over 30 years of experience working with the country’s diverse water sources, the team applies scienti c expertise to design customised systems that deliver clean, clear water—guaranteed to meet New Zealand’s drinking water and dairy industry standards. What sets Temple Water Technologies apart is their comprehensive on-site assessment, in-house construction of water treatment systems, and their guarantee of water quality. The team analyses the physical and chemical properties of the water directly on-site, assesses various treatment options, and designs a tailored solution to suit the water source. Customers receive a detailed evaluation report outlining upfront capital and accurate running costs of valid treatment solutions, along with a guaranteed water quality outcome. Chris states: “We o er a water quality guarantee on every system we supply. We specify the quality in our proposal and ensure that the right solution is provided to the customer and that we meet that standard”. Temple Water designs, builds, and integrates complete water treatment and ltration systems—delivering custom-built, robust solutions for every client. As Chris explains, “Our systems are built speci cally for New Zealand conditions, where land and water sources are unique and vary widely from region to region and farm to farm.” Temple Water collaborates closely with AgFirst’s agriculture and horticulture divisions—delivering water solutions for dairy shed use, watering stock, irrigation, employee and household use. While AgFirst supplies bore pumps and other irrigation infrastructure, Temple Water provides the tailored water treatment systems to complete the solution. One of Temple Water’s recent joint projects with AgFirst was for Pāmu Farms (Landcorp)—New Zealand’s largest government-owned farming operation. Their central plateau water supply contained arsenic levels above safe drinking water standards, prompting Pāmu to commission Temple Water to research and develop under-bench arsenic removal systems in 66 homes and farm buildings across the area. Arsenic, commonly found in volcanic regions, can often be present in the water supply and requires specialised treatment for safe consumption. Temple Water is increasingly supplying treatment systems to farmers who have installed their own bore pumps, moving away from relying on costly county water supplies. With a challenging water supply and a capital investment of $75,000 (excluding bore installation), there is an annual saving of $50,000 per year, compared to using a county water supply. The system pays for itself within 18 months and delivers savings of over $1 million across 20 years. With business thriving, Temple Water has been expanding every year, and has just moved into a larger o ce space, warehouse and production facility in Henderson, Auckland. They’ve also added new technology to their product range, designed to remove nitrate, silica, and boron from water—meeting the evolving needs of their clients. Chris says; “We have increased manufacturing capacity to keep up with the increased demand that we're experiencing”. Looking forward, Chris adds, “We want to continue to be the preferred supplier for the dairy and horticulture industries in NZ”.
