Director Geoff Hart brings a farmer’s eye to every job. “It’s about getting the best results for our customers’ businesses, not just what’s convenient for us and our machines,” he says. That approach has helped Hart Contracting build strong relationships with Central Taranaki dairy farmers. Geoff and his small, tight-knit team pride themselves on consistency, communication, and doing the job right every time. Hart Contracting has built its reputation on exactly that principle. Geoff and his two spray operators, Tony Brophy and Damian Hill, have become familiar faces at dairy farms throughout Central Taranaki. Their long-term presence provides trust, reliability, and understanding that keeps farmers coming back. Geoff grew up in Stratford, spending school holidays on relatives’ farms before training at Taratahi in Masterton. He spent 14 years dairy farming, experience which underpins the way he runs his contracting business today. “Because of my farming background, I know we’ve got to get the best result for the farmer’s business,” he says. “We understand how much weather, timing, and accuracy matter.” Weather is a constant challenge, but Geoff says his local knowledge gives him an edge. “The mountain dictates a lot of our weather. I can usually look three or four days ahead and tell a farmer, ‘We’ll probably be at your place on Tuesday.’” Spraying is Hart Contracting’s core business, but the team has diversified into agronomy, cropping, fertiliser application, earthworks, and roadside spraying with Fulton Hogan. Geoff and business partner Gareth Lee have also invested in a 50ha farm and a quarry in Stratford, adding heifer Geoff and his two spray operators, Tony Brophy and Damian Hill. grazing, silage, and aggregate supply to the mix. “We don’t want to get any bigger,” Geoff says. “We want to stay small, personal, and profitable.
