Karen Phelps Milk R Us has forged its reputation by placing a strong focus on helping farmers improve their milk quality utilising key tools and tests, some of which are unique to the company. Founded in 2015 in Winton by former dairy farmers Inge and Lars de Kruijf, Milk R Us has grown from serving just a handful of clients to supporting hundreds of dairy operations across the country, from Southland to Whangarei. “I’m passionate about cows and I’m passionate about milk quality,” explains Lars. “My background as a dairy farmer informs everything we do.” One of the company’s points of difference lies in its dynamic testing service, which assesses milking machines while cows are actually being milked, rather than just the standard static testing undertaken between milkings – although the company offers this as well. Lars says dynamic testing is not widely used by dairy farmers but it can provides important insights. “If farmers are having mastitis or high somatic cell count issues, a dynamic assessment can help detect problems in the parlour and milking routine,” says Lars. “Dynamic testing evaluates several critical areas that static testing cannot measure including pre-milking teat preparation, over-milking issues, liner slippage and vacuum levels applied at the teat end. The process involves checking the entire milking operation, from cows in the yard through to staff animal handling and teat spraying procedures.” Another point of difference is that Milk R Us is New Zealand’s exclusive supplier of Milkrite InterPuls products, with particular emphasis on the mouth-vented liners. “The Impulse Air dairy liner introduces air at the mouthpiece behind the milk, reducing the Helping farmers improve their milk quality potentially damaging effects of vacuum and providing gentle massage to teats. This triangular liner technology creates a more synchronised closing action compared to standard round liners.” He says that because the triangular design reduces liner slippage and kick-offs while improving grip around the teat, the air vent helps move milk away from teats, keeping them dry and reducing splash back that can allow bacteria to enter. Overall benefits include improved teat condition through reduced congestion and hyperkeratosis, enhanced overall herd health through lower somatic cell counts and mastitis levels and more relaxed parlour conditions resulting from gentler milking practices. 85 Gala Street, Invercargill (03) 214 7979 office@flintoffs.co.nz Annual Accounts & Tax Planning Budgeting & Cashflows Business Development Succession Planning & Restructuring Software Support www.flintoffs.co.nz Proud to support Milk R Us Ltd Your one - stop solution for all your event needs!
