The purchase was completed on 1 June, with ABC Milking Solutions continuing to trade as a separate entity while becoming part of the wider McGregors group. McGregors Farm Services managing director Daniel Peake says the deal creates immediate benefits for customers through increased scale and improved service reach. ABC Milking Solutions has been operating for 15 years under its previous owners, who have now retired, and Daniel says the business was well regarded in the Rotorua dairy sector. “We knew ABC had a strong reputation and a loyal customer base,” he says. “Bringing the two businesses together gives us more people on the ground and a much wider coverage area, which means faster support for farmers.” Responsiveness remains critical in dairy farming, where equipment failure can quickly halt production. “When a milking system goes down, farmers need help straight away,” he says. “That is where having more technicians across a wider area really makes a difference.” The combined group now employs about 20 staff, including technicians, retail, and support teams across both Morrinsville and Rotorua operations. McGregors Farm Services has been operating for close to 25 years, with Daniel taking ownership in 2017 with his wife Aimee. The business delivers dairy shed servicing, milking systems, water reticulation, effluent systems and pumping solutions across the Waikato and central North Island. Daniel says the group’s capability now extends across almost every aspect of on farm dairy infrastructure, from milking systems and pumping to water, effluent, electrical, and general farm support, with one clear exception. “We can pretty much take care of everything on farm apart from vet work,” he says. “That is the one area we do not cover, but who knows, maybe that comes in time as well.” He says the group’s approach is built around long-term partnerships with farmers, not just reactive repairs. “We are not just a breakdown service,” he says. “We are part of the farm team, and we do whatever we can to help farmers keep operating efficiently.” The combined group now employs about 20 staff. “When a milking system goes down, farmers need help straight away,” he says. “That is where having more technicians across a wider area really makes a difference.” daveywater.com For water treatment, filtration, pressure and transfer for farms, experts ABC Milking have got you covered.
