Flexi Tanks NZ is helping farmers tackle one of the biggest challenges facing modern dairy operations by providing enclosed, cost-effective storage systems that offer a practical alternative to traditional infrastructure. General manager Andre Meier says the company continues refining its product to better support farmers, with recent improvements focused on making storage management easier and more effective. “One of the big changes has been improving access to mixing,” Andre says. “We have spent time educating owner-operators about the importance of mixing and making sure they have the right information.” Flexi Tanks NZ has supplied and installed more than 800 tanks nationwide. DAIRY SERVICES » Flexi Tanks NZ RAIN? NO PROBLEM FOR A FLEXI TANK Andre: 027 706 3633 | info@flexitanksnz.com www.flexitanksnz.com | Cambridge, NZ Pump effluent, not rain On Farm 24/7, we support our Farmers with Milking, Water, Refrigeration, Engineering and Electrical services, plus fully Quali ed Design, installation and maintenance of reliable, compliant E uent Systems. Flexi Tanks now feature a dedicated mixing port on the top of the tank, giving farmers greater access to agitate stored effluent and improve solids management. “Mixing is important because you want to prevent solids and sludge build-up, keep the effluent as a manageable slurry, and make sure you are getting the nutrients back onto pasture when you irrigate.” Since 2012, Flexi Tanks NZ has supplied and installed more than 800 tanks nationwide, providing dairy farmers with storage options ranging from smaller farm systems through to tanks capable of holding more than two million litres. Andre says compliance remains one of the biggest reasons farmers are looking for additional storage capacity as environmental requirements continue to evolve. “The rules are continuously changing, and farmers need to have better, smarter, and fitter systems. Storage is a key part of that because farmers need to make sure they are compliant and ticking all the right boxes.” Flexi Tanks provides farmers with a durable solution backed by a 10-year warranty and an expected lifespan of 15 years. The enclosed system prevents rainwater entering storage, helping farmers avoid paying for unnecessary additional capacity. Installation is also designed to be straightforward, requiring minimal earthworks. “All that is needed is a flat sand pad. They are quick to install, and that helps keep the cost down for farmers.” The flexibility of the system is proving valuable for farms needing more storage without rebuilding existing pond infrastructure. A recent project near Te Awamutu involved a dairy farm with a two million litre pond that required another one million litres of storage. Instead of rebuilding the existing system, Flexi Tanks installed a one million litre tank, allowing the farmer to transfer liquid between storage areas during wet periods when irrigation is not possible. The company has also supplied a tank for a kiwifruit grower who also operates a dairy farm, with the customer completing earthworks themselves to reduce costs. Andre says flexibility is one of the biggest advantages of the system, particularly for smaller farms that may not have the capital for large infrastructure projects.“Farmers aren’t just buying storage, they are buying flexibility for the winter season and compliance. If a farm grows and they need more storage in the future, they can add another tank rather than having to rebuild everything.”
