Family owned and operated Regal Group was an agricultural contracting business when it started back in 1960. In 1975, a eet of trucks was introduced for the cartage of general freight, and further acquisitions over the years saw the company move into bulk and maxi um tonnage haulage. Regal Group has evolved into a logistical solutions specialist providing not only transport, but also storage and handling, and in the case of Farmlands, manufacture of prod cts for i s customers. Its purpose built eet of MPI certi ed aluminium bodied truck and trailer units transports freight to wherever it’s needed, while Regal Group manages the entire process. “Our bulk freight servic is available 24/7 to e sure our clients’ products get t where they’re need d.” Today Regal Group operates a purpose built eet of 100 truck and trailer units, all manufactured in-house to meet the individual requirements of cust mers and contracts. In addition, six specialist auger trucks with connections to on-farm facilities were part of the p rchase of Whit line Transport. Regal Group manages a number of storage facilities througho t he North and South Islands, with staff trained in stock management processes and weighbridge and Loadrite technology. The Waharoa business, acquired in A gust, manufactures Farmlands’ range of NRM stock feeds. Regal Group is already undertaking the manufacture of stock feeds on a smaller scale for another major international client, so this is a move into the known and a furthering of that part of Regal Group’s portfolio. Regal Group uses Farmlands-owned plant and Farmlands recipes to manufacture bulk and bagged feed for dairy cows, calves, horses, poultry, pigs, and more. Regal Haulage then delivers those feeds straight to th f r . As a transport company, Regal Haulage delivers a lot of farm-related products, but generally to specialty stores to keep them stocked up, r th r than straight to the farm. The Farmlands partnership sees Regal Haulage going back to that ‘last mile’ of transport it used to do in its early days. “Regal and Far lands are very much working tog ther to achieve the same r sult, without each having to multiply our resources,” says Regal Haulage CEO Geoff Wilson. “They can focus on what hey’re good at, while we carry on with what we’re good at. We’re important to each other in terms of completing the supply chain for farmers, and we foresee future Farmlands partnerships in other regions.”Regal Group is now working towards achieving FeedSafeNZ Accreditation at the Waharoa plant.
