NZ Dairy Summer 2024

| 51 nzdairy It is business-as-usual for SealesWinslow. Russell Fredric Well known for its premium stock feed products, SealesWinslow continues to innovate its products and services to help its valued clients achieve provable results. Formerly owned by Balance Agri-Nutrients, SealesWinslow is in a time of transition, having been purchased by Farmlands on June 1 following Commerce Commission approval early April. The purchase will bring Farmlands’ feed businesses NRM and McMillan together with SealesWinslow, increasing Farmlands’ feed manufacturing footprint into the North Island. Farmlands CEO Tanya Houghton said in a media release on April 4 SealesWinslow is a great match for Farmlands, combining a co-operative heritage, strong feed assets and expertise. “Bringing our combined assets, expertise and market reach together, offering three leading animal nutrition brands, we’ll increase our ability to create long-term benefits and value for shareholders and customers.” From an operational perspective it is businessas-usual for SealesWinslow. Operations manager Tyler Stuthridge says the company remains focused on delivering the maximum possible tangible benefits to its farmer clients through the comprehensive range of products and services offered. SealesWinslow operates three plants nationwide, in Morrinsville, Whanganui and Ashburton, along with eight regional hubs from Whangarei to Invercargill ensuring retail feed products are available to their customers in a timely manner regardless of their location. “From an animal feed business, we have one of the widest range of products out of any feed manufacturing business in New Zealand; this ensures we have a delivery method for delivering key nutrients and minerals to livestock all year round.” The business is focused on precision feeding based on solid science with pellets forming the core of its products for dairy, goat, sheep and beef operations with the consistency of their composition being fundamental, Tyler says. The most logical reasons for choosing pellets versus other feed options on the market are: the heat generated in conditioning and pelleting make the ration more digestible by breaking down the starches, the pellet simply puts the feed in a concentrated form, and pelleting minimizes waste during the eating process. Continually innovating products and services “With pelleted feed each animal receives a well-balanced diet by preventing the animal from picking and choosing between ingredients which is key to optimising each animal’s performance.” The high quality of SealesWinslow products is supported by its nationwide team of technical sales representatives and “a really cool digital tool” – Ruminix³. Ruminix³ has been designed to support on-farm decision making when it comes to balancing a herd’s diet to maximise milk production. Using Ruminix³, we can show farmers the tangible benefits of quality feed inputs and how strategic feed planning can boost their business.” “Ultimately it’s about making the animals more efficient through a balanced diet, if we make the animals more efficient, we make more money for their owner and create a smaller environmental footprint,” Tyler says. SealesWinslow has taken pride in the premium no-compromise quality of their products ever since the company was established in 2011. However, recognising the economic pressures that farmers can face in challenging times, it has expanded its calf and dairy range to include a wider range of feed solutions to fit every farmers budget and requirements. Regardless of the product, a key role of the company’s representatives is to follow up to ensure results match the expectations for animal health benefits and return on investment by reviewing the hard data, something Seales Winslow will continue to focus on as environmental legislation changes and on-farm profitability continue to challenge its farmer clients.
