By maximising economic benefit and animal welfare such technologies are reshaping traditional farming practices. The robots milk the cows allowing farmers the freedom to focus on other contributing factors on their farm like pasture management. Milking with this system requires a good look at a farm’s current systems and future direction. ADP and DeLaval help the customer decide if it’s right the right move for them,” she says. An innovative solution gaining significant traction is wearable technology for cows. Cow behaviour monitoring collars like MSD Animal Health’s SenseHub dairy monitoring solution uses collars and intelligent drafting gates (Sense Hub Intelligate) to collect and analyse critical data and accurately sort and draft cows. This technology provides farmers with previously unavailable insight into their herds’ wellbeing and performance, says Monica. Advance Dairy & Pump installs and services the drafting gate utilised by the system. Solar water pumping systems, such as those from Grundfos, have also emerged as a gamechanging technology. “This has provided good reliable drinking water for stock in places they’ve never had access to it before. Solar pumping has made it more cost effective to get water to parts of the farm where it was previously too expensive to put a power cable in there.
