Founded initially as a home-based business, the company is now located at 10 Waharoa Road West, Matamata, signalling its continued growth and commitment to the agricultural community. “We had a young family and our technicians work out on farm, so it made sense to operate from home initially,” says Chrissy Burch, who co-owns the business with her husband Ziggy. “Now the company has grown, our new location means greater convenience for our customers.” The company offers a rare combination of high level expertise. Ziggy, a Certified Milking Machine Tester with over 15 years’ industry experience, specialises in high-tech and automation solutions on farm. Chrissy, a former senior veterinary nurse, brings additional skills, especially in cow health technologies. Beta Milking’s service offerings are comprehensive including new dairy shed installations, retrofitting, servicing, milk cooling and fabrication of custom parts. Beta Milking service and stock consumable parts for all brands of dairy sheds along with a wide range of DeLaval dairy chemicals and teatspray, dairy shed consumables and rubberware. It is the local supplier and installer of AgMat Rubber Solutions matting, Bell Booth products and services and installs Dosatron. As Davey Water Products Master Dealers it can offer competitive pricing for all water and effluent pumping needs and water system installation including trenching, pumps, tanks and UV systems. It stocks hosing, stainless steel fittings, pneumatic fittings, water fittings and hot water cylinders in its one stop shop. Other brands offered by Beta Milking include Lowara, Puretec, Devan Tanks, Milfos and Westfalia. Chrissy says new products are always getting added to the range and the latest, just in time for summer, is Aqua Pure pool and spa chemicals, including a natural alternative to chlorine for spas, and a free 45 second water spin test service. A unique aspect of Beta Milking is its personalised approach. “We are a family-run business and a small dedicated team so we can offer our customers a really personal service,” says Chrissy. She says an important aspect of this is providing round-the-clock support to dairy farmers. Its 24/7 technical troubleshooting team is always available, with a philosophy that prevention servicing saves farmers money in the long run. “No question is too big or small. We endeavour to solve all call out queries over the phone. This is to save our clients’ money and because we appreciate time with our family too. If the query is unable to be resolved over the phone, we then evaluate the situation with the client and decide when this issue needs to be addressed. This has meant that our call outs are very low.” This commitment to enhanced customer service includes rapid response capabilities. Chrissy recounts an instance where a customer called at 5am after an overnight dairy fire. Ziggy was on-site within 20 minutes, helping the farm resume milking within hours. Chrissy says the new premises will enable Beta Milking to continue its growth trajectory and future plans to continue to support the agricultural community in the Waikato region. “Our goal at Beta Milking is to be a one-stop shop so our customers have everything they need.” We are a small start up business based in rural Putaruru, after over 20 years in the Dairy industry Lance decided to go out on his own and try to make a living using the skills he has developed over the years.
