They also integrate with our drafting systems, automatically separating cows that need AI or treatment.” Dairymaster has also diversified into refrigeration and cooling technology, offering farmers major savings on energy costs. “We’re using variable speed chillers that only run as fast as they need to,” Craig says. “That can save a lot of power compared to systems that run flat out all the time. We’re also using the latest refrigerant, R32, which is much more environmentally friendly and meets global warming regulations.” The company’s smart cooling systems also capture heat generated during milk cooling and repurpose it to heat water up to 75°C, cutting hot water heating costs significantly. “It’s all about maximising efficiency - getting the most out of every process,” Craig says. One of Dairymaster’s strengths is its close contact with farmers. “We’re always on farm,” he says. “Being in front of farmers means we understand their challenges and can respond quickly with solutions.” Dairymaster has been established in New Zealand for more than 40 years, with Craig and his wife Julie owning the business since 2005. Today the company employs 23 staff and is looking to grow further as demand for its technology continues to rise. “Farmers are doing okay at the moment, but they’re careful about where they spend it,” Craig says. “Our focus is on delivering innovations that save time, save energy, and improve cow health.
