Karen Phelps Two decades of expertise in designing, installing and maintaining milking systems has established Morrison Agri as a trusted name with the company marking its 20th anniversary in 2025 as a leader in delivering efficient, reliable and high-performance solutions. “We don’t just focus on selling equipment - we care about what our equipment actually delivers to farmers, what it achieves for them. For us it is all about results,” says founder Paul Morrison. Since its beginnings in 2005 the company has grown into a comprehensive dairy infrastructure specialist, perfectly aligned with the strong momentum in New Zealand’s dairy industry. Paul’s journey into the dairy sector began as soon as he left school, working on a family member’s dairy farm before heading to Waikato Milking System’s Timaru dealership. “I developed a passion for working with dairy farmers to help them to improve their operations,” he explains. “It’s a commitment that has remained central to the business throughout its evolution.” Paul says it is the comprehensive nature of Morrison Agri’s offering sets it apart in the sector providing customers with everything dairy and can undertake new milking machine installs, repairs and maintenance and a full range of day-to-day milking machine products. “Our approach ensures farmers have a single, reliable partner for all their dairy infrastructure needs,” says Paul. Morrison Agri specialises in Waikato Milking Systems plant, which Paul describes as simply the best available on the market today. The company’s ability to upgrade older systems has proven particularly valuable. “Morrison Agri is able to easily upgrade a lot of older Waikato Milking Systems cup removers with the latest technology,” he explains. “This means existing infrastructure can be enhanced without complete replacement. We can of course also upgrade and repair any other brand of milking plant.” He says key moments over the past twenty years include adding the Christchurch and Timaru Waikato Milking Machine dealerships to the Mid Canterbury one the company was based on when it started. “These additional dealerships allowed us to scale up. We also took on the Waikato Milking Systems rotary platform installation and servicing in 2010,” explains Paul. He says part of the success of the business has been based on an ability to adapt to the changes in the dairy industry over the years. “Things are more complicated now and we’ve moved with the times. We’ve managed to identify potential new revenue streams and services and have realised that what worked yesterday might not be the best for today.” A couple of services added recently include in-shed meal feeding systems from PPP Industries as well as automatic calf feeders from Bell-Booth. “This has been due to client demand where possibly their existing equipment in the field wasn’t being looked after and supported as well as it could have been. We supply good quality equipment from our suppliers and offer good backup to our customers.” He says 20 years of success can ultimately be put down to three things: “We have a good team, good suppliers with good quality equipment and a good customer base. As cheesy as it sounds we only win if our customers are winning. So we are very customer focused, trying to do the best for them and their business and hopefully that flows through to our business as well.” BUILDING FOR DAIRY FARMS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT Specialists in custom dairy sheds, rural infrastructure, and agricultural construction across Mid Canterbury. 03 308 8807 | www.geoffread.co.nz
