There are many advantages for farmers in being able to mill their own feed including the fact the animals perform better and need less feed because the ration is fresh every day, cost savings and the ability to produce their own special composition or premix and feed mixtures,” he says. Central Silo Systems supplies, installs and ser- vices the Danish SKIOLD brand including disc mills, hammer mills and roller mills for grinding cereals for feed and meal mixers and mineral additive hoppers. SKIOLD has a history dating back around 140 years so is well proven in the marketplace. Sean says the brand is incredibly durable and long lasting with low maintenance requirements making it a great investment. In fact he says feedback from farmer customers indicates most will pay back the cost of the equipment in feed savings and increased productivity in one to two years. Sean says the perfect products for most dairy farmers will be the SKIOLD SK2500 or SK5000 disc mills. The SK2500 can produce two tonnes per hour and can be supplied with the SKIOLDtwin drum cleaner for efficient cleaning, separating both under and oversized impurities from many different sorts of raw materials for animal feed. The SK5000 has a larger five tonne per hour capacity and can come with a SKIOLD screen cleaner. Sean says whatever option dairy farmers choose they will experience improved productivity, reduced labour, better animal health, greater control over Photos: SK2500 Disc Mill are virtually service free the units require 1 pump of grease every 500hrs and can mill 5000 tonne of clean grain before the Inlet rings or Grinding unit need to be serviced. Central Silo Systems offer options of fully automated Feed mills to allow milling, batching weighing and dosing of milled grains, proteins, minerals and oil molasses addition for a completely blended finished feed their finished meal quality, costs and a desired mix to suit the nutritional requirements when needed. He says that the highly developed disc mill allows accurate and consistent meal particle size at the touch of a handle or can be automatically adjusted through the controller. “A feed mill allows farmers the flexibility to buy in feed when it’s cheaper and additives such as protein and minerals in bulk. Upgrading from a worn out grain crusher/roller mill to a disc mill is usually an easy on site job. “We offer a range of milling, mineral dispensing, mixing, transporting, weighing and control systems to suit fully automated feed mill solutions. We can undertake complete feed milling solutions including installation and technical support because we are dedicated to offering the complete solution,” he says.
