The family owned and operated business, led by Steve and Maria King, has been serving the farming community since its establishment in 1988. Steve says the result has been many loyal long-term customers, some of which have been with the business since it first started. He says many have become more friends than clients and the King Farm Services team relish giving their customers a very personal service. King Farm Services offers clients a great deal of experience. Steve is a fitter turner machinist and Maria came from a retail management background. Son Will and employee Robbie are setting up to take the reigns and lead King Farm Services into the next era. Together they run King Farm Services along with their trusted team. “Our staff are a major asset to the business and are a contributing factor to its success,” says Steve. King Farm Services works from Waihau Bay to Katikati to Galatea and offers farmers a range of services including irrigation design and installation, milking systems, water systems, effluent systems, water meter installation and verification and fabrication, welding and machining. The company also undertakes irrigation systems for the kiwifruit industry and has completed some large and significant projects. King Farm Services is an agent for DeLaval and offers solutions to drive progress in milk production. “We design a specific solution to specific situations, with the aim to make the dairy farmer more successful,” says Steve. King Farm Services completes new DeLaval installs and upgrades and maintenance across all brands as well as offering a 24/7 emergency breakdown service. Effluent systems are also an essential part of any agricultural or industrial operation, and Steve says the King Farm Services team of experts has years of experience designing and installing efficient and effective effluent systems by teaming up with Precise DE, which undertakes the design work, that meets the unique needs of clients. “From consultation and design to installation and maintenance, we work with our clients every step of the way to ensure that their effluent system is built to last and delivers reliable performance day in and day out.” A recent example is an automated system just completed for a client at Thornton. Steve says King Farm Service’s designs systems to be easy, user friendly and safe. “This system uses a PLC controlled box. Our systems have flow meters to give run dry protection and we know exactly how much flow is going out to the irrigator. All motorised valves are electronic so the famer just presses a button and everything works from there along with cell phone alerts if anything goes wrong,” explains Steve. He says King Farm Services is constantly expanding its plant to keep good control over timing and quality of projects. This includes two trenchers of 45hp and 25hp and investment has just been made in a Kubota digger. Achieving a high level of professionalism and service is always the aim at King Farm Services. It offers a unique on road customer service providing support to farmers with their general business.
