We are a team supporting each other in life aspirations.” Rylib founders John and the late Kelly Nicholls. “Kelly was the driver of our culture and brand so I’ve got very big boots to fill,” says Kelly’s daughter Libby. Aside from dairy industry related study, people have completed courses such as photography and welding. “It’s about their enjoyment because if people enjoy being part of our business, knowing we care and want them to do better, then they thrive. We are a team supporting each other in life aspirations.” Libby says giving back to the community is really important not only to the Nicholls as a family but also to its team. This has involved supporting local schools, sporting teams, Westpac Helicopter and offering annual free flu vaccinations to anyone in the community. “We proudly volunteer and support many charities in our local area and encourage everyone in the group to get involved where they can.” Rylib Group also offers a scholarship to Lincoln University to support the next generation coming into the industry. The successful 2024 applicant Sam O’Neil is currently completing his Honours in a Bachelor of Agriculture Science. “Alongside Rylib’s sustainable journey, Sam’s research and expertise are a strong supporting avenue to empowering both Sam’s success and our sustainable endeavours,” says Libby. Rylib remains a strongly family owned and operated business. Brother Ryan, the business general manager, runs Rylib on a day-to-day basis. John sits at a strategic level as managing director. “He still has his gumboots and overalls in the boot of the car and his favourite part of the job is when he is in the paddock with the cows,” says Libby. The family takes comfort that, despite the passing of Kelly, her influence lives on and she made a huge mark in the community. “We were really humbled by the amount of community who supported us when Mum passed. Her legacy of determination, hard work, caring and giving back is one we are excited to continue on.”
