According to Dairycool sales manager Lee Gilbert, the system has been getting great results, especially when it comes to energy savings. “PureCool is a game-changer,” Lee says. “It replaces all other refrigeration on-farm and delivers both snap chilling and maintenance cooling across multiple vats. We’re talking milk chilled to five degrees in record time, with the added bonus of free hot water and significantly lower running costs.” Designed in Europe and engineered for New Zealand’s dairy industry, PureCool utilises eco-friendly refrigerant with a very low global warming potential (GWP), and the system operates with up to 80% less refrigerant volume than conventional chillers. That means lower emissions and lower operating costs for farmers – a win-win in a climate-conscious industry. “PureCool doesn’t just chill milk efficiently, it also helps farmers meet increasing compliance requirements around refrigerant volumes and cooling capacity,” Lee says. “With the push towards sustainability and reduced emissions, this technology really sets farms up for the future.” Dairycool currently services around 900 farms across the Canterbury region, from Cheviot to Oamaru, and offers complete turnkey installation of the PureCool system, including all plumbing, heat recovery, electrical, and cooling components. “We take care of everything so the farmer doesn’t have to coordinate multiple contractors,” Lee says. “Our technicians are highly experienced, and we make sure every job is done with minimal disruption to milking.” The winter dry-off period is especially busy for the team, as it provides a prime opportunity to upgrade equipment without interfering with daily operations. “Our PureCool changeovers are usually completed in a day, with a couple of days’ preparation beforehand. Farmers are having to upgrade cooling capacity to meet new regulations.
