Camden Group owns and operates large-scale dairy farms on the Central Canterbury Plains and is seeing that things are looking good. They oversee around 6,500 cows farmed on 2800 hectares and employ 40 full time staff. As Camden General Manager Terry Kilday says their people are the secret to their success as they have ridden the highs and lows of dairying since 1994. Fonterra is creating new protein markets overseas, especially with the developing middle class overseas in Vietnam following on from China, he said. “The world needs to eat good quality protein and we need protein production for the health of our economy. I’m very positive about the future of dairy in New Zealand as we are known for top quality protein products.
