The company supports clients in managing land more sustainably, profitably, and in line with compliance requirements. Established in 2004, LandVision operates from offices in Tauranga, Hawke’s Bay, Whanganui, and Nelson servicing all of New Zealand. The company is supported by a team with a diverse range of expertise in farm planning, resource mapping, nutrient management, environmental management, policy and compliance. Since inception, the LandVision team has mapped over 1.2 million hectares of land across New Zealand to paddock scale. LandVision’s work covers all aspects of resource management within the primary sector including; Land Resource mapping; Land Use Capability (LUC) mapping; farm planning—Integrated Farm Environment Plans (IFEPs) and Freshwater Farm Plans (FW-FPs), resource consents and compliance, land management consultancy, due diligence for land use change, and environmental monitoring. Director of LandVision Tauranga and Principal Consultant for Soils, Joel Perry states: “I have found that soils often get overlooked when managing a farm. If you don’t dig you don’t know. The best means of reporting a property’s physical resources for landowners are a Land Resource Inventory (LRI) report and a Land Use Capability (LUC) report. An LRI report will provide detailed information about rock type, soil type, slope, erosion, and vegetation. A LUC report looks into the classes and limitations of the land and the suitability of the land for different uses. Joel states, “Land resource, water resource, and farm resource mapping form the framework for all of our plans. One such plan is an Integrated Farm Environment Plan (IFEP). This takes the land resource information, along with the farm enterprise system and provides management options to help farm sustainably. Modules covered in these plans range from freshwater management through to greenhouse gas emissions through to soil and nutrient management”. Joel states: “We produce effluent application risk reports which identify low and high risk areas for farm dairy effluent application. By using more refined soil mapping, areas of low risk for effluent application are more accurately identified - having a significant impact on effluent storage requirements - we have been working with Kliptank on this for various clients. We also assist dairy farmers with resource consents for effluent application”. LandVision also provides Land Productivity Reports to support land subdivision resource consent applications in line with the National Policy Statement for Highly Productive Land (NPS-HPL) regulations. LandVision partners with a number of planning/surveying companies in this space, such as LandHQ Consultancy in the Waikato - to deliver consultancy services to clients seeking to subdivide or develop their land. These reports are also a requirement from various councils for kiwifruit development.
