Celia Seagull and the Plastic Sea Written by Nicole Miller Illustrated by Lily Uivel Little Love; RRP: $15.00 Celia Seagull and the Plastic Sea is a great book to introduce young children to the perils of plastic in ocean in a nonthreatening way, and although we can’t go saving each animal as in the book it can increase discussion on what we can do to make a difference. As an adult, what I did like, was how Celia Seagull, like many of us, are too busy and /or self-righteous to help others in need (so a good reminder too for those adults reading aloud). Adding a mermaid to the story, I’m sure too, will be a further attraction for many children! Along with the descriptive rhyming text and the bright detailed illustrations this book will appeal to children 3+.
