One section in the book allows tamarki to catch their breath and calm down by counting to ten. This fun vibrant book will be enjoyed by young children and another great way to explore their emotions. Kererū Written by Glenda Kane Illustrated by Lisa Allen Bateman Books; RRP: $24.99 Hardback This beautifully illustrated book offers an unflinching tale about Aotearoa's vulnerable wildlife and the struggle for kererū to survive. The book is aimed at tamariki 4+ and offers solutions and opportunities to discuss conservation. New Zealand Birds of the Week / Ngā Manu o te Wiki By Darryl & Gillian Torckler Bateman Books; RRP: $21.99 Paperback Birds of the Week is told in rhyme, with each day of the week introducing a different bird, along with a brief fact of each bird. There is not a lot of text, but what really stands out is the amazing photography, with very vivid images of each of the manu. Te reo Māori is littered throughout the text with a mix of native and introduced specie. For tamariki 3+. August 2023 { 43 }
