The Tale of the Tiny Man By Barbro Lindgren Illustrated by Eva Eriksson Gecko Press; RRP: $29.99 Hardback This book is a much-loved and touching children’s story from Sweden and a perfect book to explore learning how to make and share friends, have more than one friend, the feelings of being left out and developing understanding of group dynamics. The main protagonist, an old man, is lonely until a dog enters his life, and all is well until the dog makes another friend! This emotional story will pull at the adult’s heartstrings, but also allows for discussions with children about loneliness, empathy, self-worth and prejudice.
