ENDORSING PROFESSIONAL LEADERS An endorser must hold a full practicing certificate (Tiwhikete Tūturu). From 1 February 2023, it is no longer acceptable for nonteacher managers / owners to endorse ECE professional leaders. ECC NETWORKING MEETINGS ECC members can connect through the ECC Facebook group and at Networking meetings. The ECC organises regular Networking meetings for ECE professional leaders, centre managers, and owners. These take place across the country, quarterly or more often if requested by participants. The meetings intend to provide opportunities for engaging in professional discussions about relevant topics and issues but also for exchanging ideas and providing a safe space for professional feedback. These Networking meetings lend themselves to developing a convenient and effective networking community, where professional leaders can grow their practice as part of their Professional Growth Cycle. Contact events@ecc.org.nz to find out more. ANNUAL ENDORSEMENT A professional learning network colleague who holds a Tūturu | Full (Category One) practising certificate and is part of the PGC network confirms annually that the ECE professional leader: ● has participated in the PGC. The decision as to who will be the endorser rests primarily with the professional leader, with the network’s and presiding board member’s or ECE employer’s involvement. ● meets the Standards | Ngā Paerewa. There is no expectation of endorsers visiting the service, they would be able to make decisions based on evidence-based engagement and conversation. There is also no requirement for ‘collecting evidence’, just sound professional judgement on the part of the endorser how the professional leader meets the Standards. As the PGC is designed to promote collaboration and learning between networks of professional leaders, it should not result in only two people each endorsing the other, as this would be a conflict of interest. RENEWAL OF PRACTICING CERTIFICATE EVERY THREE YEARS Endorsement for the renewal of a practising certificate includes confirmation that the professional leader: ● has participated in a PGC annually ● meets the Standards | Ngā Paerewa. ● Has developed and practised te reo me ngā tikanga Māori ● Has undertaken satisfactory professional learning and development (this is met through the engagement in a PGC).
