Hardy Construction T T Kim Newth BUILDING Whanganui’s Hardy Construction has once again proved their calibre at the Registered Master Builders’ House of the Year Awards, with all three of their premium new home builds winning accolades in this year’s awards’ round. In the 2025 Central North Island House of the Year competition, Hardy Construction won a category award, a gold award and two silver awards. As well, their gold-winning entry in the New Home up to $500,000 category made the Top 100 cut for the national awards’ event. Beautifully finished, the Top 100 home (‘Light, Volume & Flow’) at Turakina Beach stands out for its smart planning, thoughtful layout and meticulous craftsmanship. Together with their team, Sam and Stacey Hardy are very proud and happy to have won this latest recognition for their exemplary projects. This is only the second time that Hardy Construction has entered the House of the Year Awards. In 2023, they entered two projects that each won regional gold and regional category awards, with one also making the Top 100. “It showcases the quality we demand when we carry out our builds or renovations for clients,” says Sam. “House of the Year awards are the pinnacle in our industry.” As the current Master Builders’ President for Whanganui, Sam is keen to encourage other talented builders in the area to put themselves forward and hopes their success will inspire others to enter the awards. “We’ve got some brilliant builders in Whanganui doing brilliant projects and I hope they can start to see the value of entering these awards too.” Sam is chuffed that one of Hardy Construction’s award-winning projects in 2023 was in the Best New Home to $500,000 category and that they are again shining in that category this year with their Top 100 project. “It’s a special category that demands working with the client and meeting expectations to achieve their dream within a limited budget, while maintaining quality and highend workmanship. It shows that a premium result is achievable without having the million dollar budget if the right builder has been engaged to do the job and there’s a relationship of trust between the client and builder.” Hardy Construction understands what a huge commitment it is for people to build a new home and put their trust in a builder. Sam and Stacey, both born and bred Whanganui locals, launched their business in 2017.
